"The knowledge, background and documentation provided by Secur-Ed has

been key in keeping the project moving forward".

[Manager, Home Owners Association - February, 2011]

The key to installing a successful system of surveillance cameras is to properly examine the existing problem or threat and to carefully plan a system that will deliver high quality images that will meet your expectations. Our well tried and tested unique assessment and evaluation process becomes a 'live' document for future and ongoing reference and evaluation purposes.

'Criminals never worry about the consequences of being caught - they simply believe they will never be caught'.

  • Place - Where the criminal beleives s/he will not be seen or caught

  • Offender - who is motivated and willing

  • Target - suitable to meet the needs of the offender

Remove any one of those three elements and the crime will not take place.

Cameras aim to increase the perceived risk of capture, a factor which, assuming the offender is behaving rationally, will de-motivate the potential offender.

Secur-Ed offers a comprehensive assessment to identify areas of weakness or vulnerability and makes detailed recommendations on how to minimize the risk of attack on property and enhance the safety of people

Whether a ‘passive’ system - one that is recorded but not monitored; or an ‘active’ system - one that is monitored by an individual, any CCTV system, however large or small, is only as good as the people responsible for managing the information recorded by the system.

In order for any system to achieve your objectives, it must be correctly designed with particular emphasis on the capability for 'post incident review'.

Dependent upon the objectives of the system, the quality of images recorded MUST be of sufficient quality to achieve those objectives. For example if the objective is to detect offenders, you must be able to identify the culprit.

The storage and security of recorded images must also be high on the list of priorities with adequate facilities for retaining, storing and replaying the images. Storage facilities must also comply with evidential requirements while protecting personal data.

    Assessment & Evaluation Process

Four key stages:

STAGE ONE:

Statement of overall need: Will CCTV help to address  the problem or are there other methods that may be as effective or even more so?

STAGE TWO:

Define the requirements, if any, for CCTV: If it is decided

that CCTV may help to solve the problem, what are your

 expectations of the system?

STAGE THREE:

Technical Specification of the system: Having identified the

problem area/s, the hoped for solutions and outcomes - this

is the stage where we would begin to consider the basic

technical requirements of the system - not just the cameras

but also the monitoring / recording of the images, quality of

images, the protection of the recorded data, etc.

STAGE FOUR:

System commissioning and validation: Assess the

performance of the installed system - does it meet  YOUR

expectations?
